3. Comprehensive class on Lightroom
   I have been a casual Lightroom user for years but never found the right training to really get my arms around everything it has to offer. This was just the right solution. If you put in the time and follow the book you will learn Lightroom. It made a huge difference in my editing and photo storage. Well worth the price and the time invested in working through the book. It is a time investment. I spent about 15 hours working through the book and doing the exercises but it teaches you in a hands on fashion. I am so glad I got the Kindle version. I had the book on my iPad while I worked in Lightroom on my laptop. I am waiting for the 2021 version to come out to buy a hard copy to have on hand as a desk side reference book – yes, it is good enough to buy again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to up their skills in Lightroom.

4. An important, up-to-date and step-by-step guide to mastering Lightroom Classic.
   Well written and well organized, with access to downloadable images to allow you follow along on your computer so you can use the same steps he is using to edit various images to demonstrate the capabilities of the program.If you are over 35, this book, or a step-by-step video program by an expert, may be essential to understanding the way this program works and how to use its many features. This also applies to PhotoShop. Lightroom will become the central library of all of your images, and the key to organizing them, and doing basic edits. If you need to send an image to Photoshop or to a plug-in for more editing, it is a keystroke away. I have been working with computers on a daily basis for about 40 years, starting with Dos-based computers, then going to Windows-based programs, and later to Macs and iPads, and do not find Lightroom to be intuitive in any way. If you screw up getting your image files into the Lightroom catalog, or if you corrupt that catalog file in some way, you probably will not lose your image files (the catalog only knows the location of your image files – they are not in the catalog database as image files subject to being corrupted) but you may lose your edits, your metadata, and the Lightroom cataloging information, and the time you’ve invested to that point. You can’t really work on files successfully if they are not integrated into the catalog structure. I started with processing my own darkroom-based B/W photographs, with my color prints and slides processed commercially, then started with digital cameras and computer editing about 20 years ago. I have a lot of image files, and Lightroom seems to be the key to handling a large number of image files.Getting the catalog right has been the biggest stumbling block for me, and I hope I will fully comprehend it by the time I have worked through the lessons in this very comprehensive book, which is up to date through 2020, and that ultimately my Lightroom Catalog will organize and manage every image file I have, regardless of original format.The only negative comment is this: Adobe offers myriad 2-keystroke shortcuts to performing routine, but essential, functions in the various modules you work through from adding an image to the catalog to final steps of either publishing in a book, printing a single image for formal display, or for displaying on a monitor separately or through the internet. I hope I have just overlooked something, I can find no page, or group of pages, in the book which lists these keystroke combinations for the program or for any component module, and the Index makes no reference to these keystroke shortcuts. Unless you can find a list of these commands somewhere on the Internet, you will just have to keep a pad and pencil at hand while you read the book, and make your own list of these commands, which are represented by the author as being very helpful, but to me, they are only helpful if you know how to find them when you need them.

   Step by step instructions on how to set up the lessons. The lessons build on the fundamentals and then come back for more advanced instructions. Very well thought out and well done.

   Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic has become the standard processing software for serious photographers. The software allows for not only adjusting digital images, but also cataloging and recovery, printing, book publication and much more. Even though the software is much easier to use then its older relative, Photoshop, the interface can still be daunting to new users. That’s where this book comes in.The book covers all the bases of Lightroom Classic (there is also an online version of Lightroom software, but this book covers only the computer-based version). The book takes you step by step through the menus. There are also downloadable online files for use with the practical exercises presented in the book. Concepcion also includes several portfolios by famous photographers.Purchasing the book also gives access to the book on line. You get everything you get in the print version, but also video tutorials and simple quizzes. Rather than juggling the book on my lap while I worked at my desk-top computer, I found it easier to go to the online text and simultaneously run Lightroom with the downloaded files for the practical exercises, and switch back and forth between the two.I had a few small complaints about the video tutorials. If a tutorial was located in the middle of a section of the on-line text and you opened it up to full screen for ease of viewing, when you closed the tutorial, you were returned to the start of section and had to scroll down to reach the place where you found the tutorial. I also found the sound of the tutorials a bit loud. Even if you lowered the volume in one tutorial, the next on came up with full volume. I eventually lowered the overall volume on my computer to make up for this.I wish there had been more information about the photographs in the portfolios, including the conditions under which they were taken.Although the book teaches you the technical aspects of Lightroom Classic, it is not aimed at the art of adjusting a photograph.Over the years, Lightroom has continued to add more and more tools to create better pictures. For the experienced photographer most of this book will be old hat, and unless that photographer needs a review of the basics, the book is overkill. A few years ago a short book on Photoshop dealt with just the new features of a software update, I wish that kind of book was available for Lightroom Classic.For the new user, Concepcion has provided an excellent introduction to Lightroom Classic.Note: The publisher provided me with a review copy of this book at no charge.

10. I bought the book (kindle format) 4 days ago, I found it super friendly and understandable. There are load of hints and provides the reader with the knowledge of the basic use of lightroom immediately.Supporting images for training is also a big advantage.
