Miller’s straightforward approach and insightful guidance make this book a standout in the realm of marketing and branding. What sets this book apart is its simplicity and effectiveness. Miller outlines a powerful framework for creating a narrative that resonates with clients and prospects. He emphasizes the importance of positioning the customer as the hero and the business as the guide, a shift in perspective that clarifies messaging and enhances engagement. The author uses relatable examples and practical exercises, making it easy for readers to apply the principles to their own businesses. Whether you’re a seasoned marketer or just starting, the StoryBrand method provides a clear path to articulate your brand’s value in a way that captures attention and builds trust.I particularly appreciated Miller’s emphasis on empathy and understanding the customer’s journey. His approach helps businesses cut through the noise and communicate their unique value proposition effectively.Overall, “Building a StoryBrand” is a must-read for anyone looking to improve their business communication skills. It’s a practical, insightful, and engaging guide that delivers on its promise. I highly recommend it and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

  2. Awesome book AND workbook – great tool at 100 times the price!!!!
It’s a great read. Simple and straightforward. Easy to follow and the tangible results are off the charts

  3. useful and clarifying
Donald Miller’s book should be required reading for anyone looking to sell anything. The perspective shift he offer – that the customer is the hero, and your brand is the guide – is an essential insight. Recommended highly.

  4. Pretty darn good
This was assigned reading for a class I’m taking. There’s lots of useful stuff, but it also reads like a long ad for the author’s website. He writes about a call to action so many times, so it is a bit too obvious when he is making that same “call to action” for readers to engage with his website.

  5. So glad I read this!
Many people struggle with how to present their content. Ineffective communication doesn’t only waste time and money, but our great products and services are passed over. The StoryBrand book will help you know what (and what-not) to communication, so your valuable product or service can get to the most people. This puts money and time back in your pocket and protects you from losing out on potential sales. That last paragraph was written very quickly using the StoryBrand framework. How’d I do? Anyway, I began listening to the StoryBrand podcast a few months ago. The advice they provide and all of their material is top notch! I was surprised to find out this marketing genius, Donald Miller, was the same Donald Miller who wrote Blue Like Jazz (a book which impacted my life around 12 years ago).I blazed through the StoryBrand book, listening to it pretty much in a few hours at double speed. I will go back and take in the material again more slowly though later. I’ve been studying story and writing, and it’s been very interesting to see how Don has weaved this into marketing. It is a great fit and makes perfect sense. He breaks it down really well too and gives actionable steps for implementing this into your brand, website, elevator pitch, products, marketing, and even the company mindset. The information is definitely usable and my mind is brimming with ideas of how to put it into practice.A lot of the ideas in the book are covered in his podcast and other free material they put out. But the book goes into more detail and depth. Even though I was familiar with the ideas from listening to his other material, I came away with a much better grip on it after going through the book and felt the purchase price is far outweighed by the value of the material.I was pleased this book does what it says it will and gives you all the strategies you’ll need to implement it. That being said there are still many opportunities to buy into other services that Don and StoryBrand have to offer and calls to action are sprinkled throughout the book (I don’t blame them for this and it wasn’t a distraction or pushy). I’ve read a lot of books in this category only to find they are mainly to bait people into buying into a program. This is not the case here, although if you need more assistance (or deeper studies) to put it into practice, there are programs and services they offer. Now I need to implement the material. I’m just getting started and thankful to have this wealth of information to get me off on the right track. I hope to come back and tell everyone how it helps me. In the meantime, check out the StoryBrand website and podcast, you won’t be disappointed.

  7. Donald Miller does it again
He walks the walk – the book is about creating clear messaging so your clients know how you help them. I’ve read many marketing books and this has to be the easiest to follow and most logical. I highly recommend it for any business owner that wants to improve their messaging and any marketing department that wants their collateral to stand out.

  8. This book gives the right approach to creating your brand story (brand script) and then shows how to use your brand script in your marketing materials (website, one-liner, e-mail drip campaign, request for testimonials and referrals).

  9. I don’t normally leave book reviews but felt compelled with this one. I’ve been reading marketing books for the past few months to help me grow my business and the majority of them are just waffle with buzzwords thrown about for effect. This book literally guides you through the process and explains very clearly what is meant by certain terms and how you can correlate that to your own business/product/brand. It’s very well written and any jargon used is explained and examples. It’s made me understand marketing on a very different level and has taken away some of the overwhelm I’ve felt about it all. The story brand brainstormings’ have been an invaluable tool to help me reassess how to take my marketing forward.Thank you!

  10. This book will teach you how to position you product or service so that the customer is the hero of the story, not your company. This is crucial to get him interested.
