  1. Good study guide!
For those with an electronics education or background, this book provides a good outline for review of various topics. There are some errors, and you should be able to find these. This is not a text, and is meant only to guide you and show you what to prepare for. The book will let you know what to expect when you go take the CET associate test.

  2. The Manual was Better Quality Than Described and Arrived Very Quickly
I was a bit hesitant to buy an older study manual as I wondered about its actual quality. But, it was in much better condition than stated online and it arrived a few days earlier than stated via Amazon. It will make a good reference book in my library.

  3. Great Practical Review
It’s been a little while since my electronics schooling has finished, and needed to brush up on my knowledge, as well as start studying toward ISCET certification. The practice test are a great learning tool, although there are a few instances throughout the book of typos and confusing wording. With a little thought they can be sorted out. All around, very useful.

  4. Great book for review
Great book for review of electronics to get ready for the test. The book is not a electronics basics book, it is a study guide and a very helpful one for anyone who needs to find out whats on the test and to help get ready for it.

  5. Too many mistakes
Don’t think you can study this and pass the CET. As it says on the cover, it is a study -guide-. The CET Journeyman requires that you have several years working in the field and the Associates you should have already been studying, so you should only require a review. That said, this book’s worth as a review is seriously marred by all the mistakes. I’m not talking typos, I mean full blown wrong answers marked as correct. My copy has a huge number of bookmarks where I’ve marked mistakes in the text and in the sample questions. Some of the sample questions in the chapters have incorrect answers and/or bad explanations, and there are incorrect answers in the end-of-chapter questions. Some don’t even have a choice that is correct, some have the wrong answer marked, some have a nonsensical schematic that can’t work. Here is an example:begin quoteIn microprocessor language, the number 65,536 is called 64K (64,000). Usually a person studying this for the first time wants to know why they call it 64K, instead of 65,536. We don’t really know the answer, but it probably goes back to the time when these types of memories were first being used. The manufacturer of the memories only guaranteed so many possibilities out of the total. In other words, if you were buying a memory that was supposed to be able to go to information at 65,536 addresses, you might only get 64,000. So, they used a lower number that they were willing to guarantee.end quoteWow. The “k” for “kilo” should be lower case, but that pales next to the astounding ignorance of the paragraph. Any student of binary math or computers knows that when talking computers, we call a kB 1024B because that is 2^10, and -that- is why by convention we say 64k as shorthand for 65,536 when speaking of computer memory or other storage. Same with Mega and Giga, Mega is KiloKilo or 1024×1024, or 2^10 x 2^10 = 2^20 = 1,048,576 and for Giga it is KiloKiloKilo or 2^30 = 1,073,741,824.Derp.I worry about students studying for their associates becoming confused about what they know, based on the mistakes in this book. It is the 4th Edition, they should have been corrected by now.I wrote to Tab Books to see if they were interested in fixing the mistakes, I’ve heard nothing back.

  6. CET Study Guide
I read this book cover to cover along with the Associate CET Study Guide 2003 edition that’s put out by the Electronics Technicians Association and passed the Associate Certified Electronics Technicians exam no problem. If you are in an Electronics course already, and getting ready to graduate, both of these books will help you review everything quickly and get you ready for the CET test. This book is not for someone that dosen’t have a clue about Electronics but wants to get Certified.

  7. I would highly recommend anyone unfamiliar with electronics to skip this book
Ok, I’ve been working electronics for several years but I’m not electronic educated and I was hoping this would give me some prep for the CETa testing. Unfortunatly it is riddled with errors in material and function.I would highly recommend anyone unfamiliar with electronics to skip this book.If you are familiar with the material it’s a decent refresher of the topics if you can quickly identify the errors in text and built-in-quizzes. Additionally, the purpose of a Chapter quiz is to actually quiz on the material covered in the chapter, a concept I feel the authors completly ignored. Otherwise look elsewhere for CET study material because you’ll spend as much time verifying the material as you do studying it.I rate it not useless, but more of a hinderance if your new to electronics than it’s worth.
