  1. By far the best book to learn Elixir and OTP
I am fascinated by Elixir and its potential. I read multiple introductory books from multiple publishers. Elixir In Action, goes way beyond other books in terms of providing clarity, details, and an integrated overview of building Elixir & OTP-based concurrent, distributed fault-tolerant systems. However, to better understand implementation details, please download the book’s GitHub repository and review each sample in detail. I found that re-implementing each sample using my own made-up data, helped greatly. This book needs to be read and understood slowly because of the wealth of information it has.

  2. Best Book to Learn Elixir
When I was learning Elixir, the first edition of Elixir in Action was my primary resource. SaÅ¡a’s clear, concise, and engaging prose helped the initially foreign concepts in Elixir become familiar. He explains OTP in a thoughtful and approachable way. When we adopted Elixir at work, we had to train our developers to use the language. Again, Elixir in Action was the text we used. Now, all of our developers write Elixir competently.Whenever I’m asked by someone wanting to learn Elixir what resources to use, without fail I recommend Elixir in Action and that’s not changed since the release of the second edition. It’s been updated with all the changes to Elixir but done so with the same skill and care as the first edition.Elixir in Action is the only book you need to become a proficient Elixir developer.

  3. Fantastic introduction to the most important parts of Elixir
For many, actor based programming will be a new paradigm and this book does a great job explaining how to write actors that work together to solve real world problems.

  4. Got me started in Elixir VERY fast
This book reads extremely well. The examples progress at a very reasonable pace. You won’t ever feel lost or left behind like with some other programming books. If you only buy one book about Elixir, make it this one!

  5. Great !! but deeper
This book is great..you can get very deep understanding about Elixir / Erlang..but quite hard to read at first time. Topic itself is not easy. Strongly recommend after reading tutorial book..

  6. Good book if you know nothing about Elixer
Don’t expect to get anything out of this book if you’ve already been using Elixir for a little bit. Very geared towards beginners.

  7. Paid full price and received a used copy
The book itself is great – I own the first edition. BUT – as I began reading, I found numerours places where someone had underlined text in ink. Totally unacceptable.

  9. If you’ve ever watched one of SaÅ¡a’s tech talks, you might’ve noticed that his fast pace is supported by his thorough knowledge of the matter – and that is what allows him to explain with utmost conciseness. This book feels this way. It goes straight to the point, and you can grasp every little bit of it.Although this is just the second book of the “In Action” series that I’ve read, it is by far my favorite! Buy it.

  10. Highly recommended. I have both this book and Programming Elixir by Dave Thomas and I would recommend buying both if possible. This book (Elixir in Action) moves along at an excellent pace. It really focuses nicely on the OTP framework and building fault-tolerant concurrent systems, which is where Elixir excels. It is a very good complement to the Dave Thomas book which provides a slightly more gentle introduction to some of the fundamentals.

  11. Iniziato da poco, ma è piacevole da leggere e molto chiaro. Fornisce inoltre il libro in formato digitale registrandosi sul sito manning.
