  1. Actually really good
Covers nearly every topic you would need to get started on Elasticsearch. Good examples with clear instructions. Would highly recommend if you’re getting your feet wet and don’t want to endlessly read online documentation/forums to piece things together yourself.

  2. Great explanation of the next major release
There were a lot of changes between 7.x and 8.x. This book really gets into the details of those and has a lot of great examples. Things that really resonated were the integration of NLP within Elasticsearch. This kind of thing really makes data ingestion easier in that you don’t need to process sentiment and text classification outside of Elasticsearch.

  3. Great for those new to Elastic
This is a great book that provides a comprehensive overview of the Elastic Stack. I particularly found the chapters on data lifecycle management and machine learning very insightful. The book provided good examples both using the UI and DevTools to be effective.

  4. This book is very up to date and the author just able to make it clear about the different approaches and the applications of ELK.

  5. Just started reading this book. I bought it because it had a welcoming title “Getting started”, and I know little about the topic. The author does not introduce terms like “shard” to the reader. Instead, you are expected to know what it means. I have never used this to describe data before, and I expected this book to be self-contained with respect to its scope. I‘ll keep reading and perhaps update this review, but it is initially disappointing.

  6. It’s been 7 years since “Elasticsearch: The Definitive Guide” was written by Gormley & Tong, and this is the first book that I feel has really filled that gap. Moreover, this book brings into focus all that has been done in that time to improve the accessibility and utility of the Elastic Stack. The author gets the reader familiar with the elements of the Elastic Stack and how to put them to work in a sensible order, avoiding any jarring jumps in subject matter or difficulty. I’ve recommended this book to several folks new to the Elastic Stack, and they all speak highly of it also.If you’re new to the Elastic Stack, or maybe you’ve been gone a while, this is a must-read!

  7. As a beginner to the Elastic stack this really helped me get going. The examples and explanations are really detailed allowing me to understand and put into practice what was being taught.Great book – would recommend for anyone trying to learn the Elastic Stack!
