Good examples for an âadvanced beginnerâ
Good book with examples built right into example application. Not the greatest book for someone new to Go. Maybe someone who worked through a more basic starter and needs a pragmatic way to see it in action.
Very good “second Go book”
Once you have the basics of Go via the Go “Tour” or Caleb Doxsey’s “Introducing Go”, this is a great book to help you get settled into the ecosphere of Go. The authors provide interesting internals in an understandable and useful way.
Covers all the basics of the GoLang language you need to know
The chapters were consise and covered all the various unqiue aspects of the golang programming language.
A good source of information regarding Go and it’s features
A good source of information regarding Go and it’s features. You will need some previous technical knowledge in order for this book to be really useful.
good for those with at least one computer language
takes you from beginner to intermediate Go programmer in short time.
Missing ink!
I just began reading the book and tbh, I was excited to read it. I bought the book to read during my travel, but then I found out that EVERY PAGE on the right side of the book has a “white line” or the missing ink on it. It “covered” some of the texts and I can’t read them. This appeared on every right page of the book. Since they offered free ebook along with it, that’s my workaround if I really want to know what the texts are on the missing line (This is very frustrating).
Excellent introduction to Go
Excellent introduction to Go that took a village to write and it shows. The book definitely benefited from the early reviews and Go community involvement in the editing process. Wished all Mannings offerings were this exceptional.
Great Overall
Is this a comprehensive dive into everything Go? No it is not. However, if this isn’t your first language then this book does a great job of getting one up to speed. The rest can be acquired form Go’s excellent documentation.
Loved how this book uses a simple and clear approach to each topic, always supporting information with good code block examples. Covers the most important topics like native data structures and concurrency.Great for beginners in Go Lang
For those who already have some knowledge of Go and want to get to the bottom of it.
Explaination is good along with examples.
This book is a good fit if you want to learn about real life software projects done with Golang. The way William does around every piece of code is great. I am a better gopher after reading this book.
