  1. Great book!
Karl is the kind of character you root for from the start and the story grabbed me from the first page. The battles are intense, the magic system is intriguing, and the progression is incredibly satisfying.

  2. Really great book!
I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read several by this author and am intrigued by the story lines and characters! Don’t hesitate to buy!

  3. Realistic
Pain is magic and there are no shortcuts. This book really showed the cost of your actions. Also unique idea and and of a kind magic system.

  4. only the one.
Definitely a worthy read kept me from my deadline at work. A lot of unique twists in an rpg world . A Highlander twist with towers definitely want to see where book 2 goes.

  5. Needs editing and a proof read. Lazy and amateur writing
I get what they were going for but the author really needed to put more research and work into this novel. Tons of amateurish mistakes and assumptions that they could have addressed easily. Level ups are supposed to be progressive, the MC keeps saying they are but the first cost 100 then all others up to 6 cost 150. Did anyone edit this or proof read it? Do any readers care as long as they get their power litrpg fantasy fix? It’s just such lazy writing. Another, lesser, example, when the Trollkin were attacking the MC said to “sharpen both ends of the stakes” to put them in the trench as a trap. How are they going to hammer them in then? How does the MC get money to pay for everything? This master 4x strategist wanders around looking for treasure. The first merc he gets? A hot otherworldly ranger loner chick with nowhere else to go. The writing is odd sometimes as well. Like, “a dozen and a half” instead of eighteen? What does the MC being a programmer have to do with anything? Why are they always nerds or programmers? I am a programmer, none of this makes sense. After he kills the Trollkin warrior and gets his magic cloak, Tom describes the cloak as something a wizard casted a spell on over the course of a year to enchant it. The MC responds in amazement and surprise: I raised an eyebrow, glancing between Tom and the floating cloak. “A year? That’s some serious dedication. What kind of spell would someone cast for that long?” The MC previously unlocked a spell with that exact description and even asks about it. And the naming sense in all these litrpg books. Tom the Tome, Xizetoo.Everything is just cheap, amateur, writing that’s on the nose without much thought. It’s predictable and not interesting and error prone. You cannot trust Amazon reviews. Hech, take mine with a grain of salt if you just want to turn your brain off or if you are a sucker for litrpgs.

  6. Just what I was looking for!
Been looking for a great read and found it! This is a page turner, couldn’t put it down. Loved it.

  7. Kidnapped by a magic tower from a different world, Karl has a choice. Capture towns, grow his magic abilities, fight other wizards and their towers or die. A simple choice but a difficult task. Fun adventure tale with magic slinging, hard drinking mercenaries and a sarcastic spell book as a companion. Doing the unexpected is Karl’s only advantage. His mistakes and hesitation in conflict situations is understandable as he was thrown in at the deep end and is from a background with little violence. The costs of the Towers on the villages and towns that host them is not overlooked. Looking forward to the next one. Karl, do not put on the crown!
