  1. Lots of good information
I have been a Unix / Linux administrator for years. In my newest job, I have had to deal with Widows domains. This book gives a lot of the needed basics.

  3. Best book ever on windows server OS.
This book will take you from having basic windows server skills to becoming a near pro.I like how the book has filled in those unanswered questions I’ve always had windows server operating systems and also discusses current trends and how they interact with the OS.Am gonna look up the author and see if they have more books cos this is a 10/10.

  4. Good book, but no coverage of DFS.
I enjoyed this book and I am a big fan of the author. You will find great insight and info in this book. However, this book basically had zero mention of DFS, which is still a relevant service. If it was not for a lack of coverage on DFS, I would have given this book 4 stars.

  5. Great for Sys Admins of all Exp.
I ended up buying this off Barnes and noble but wanted to make sure to review here in case someone wants to purchase. This book is very good and goes into great detail about a lot of aspects of Server 2022, AD, GPO, and even Azure. This is great for learning and anyone who is in IT as a sysadmin should give it a read, you will learn something, I guarantee it. For beginners it may be hard to pick up some of the terminology, but it will help you gain skills none the less. I am creeping into Sr level now and this book has given me some great knowledge. I deff. recommend you pick it up and read the entire book, it is a great tool.

  6. Best Comprhensive Windows Server 2022 Guide
This book provides an extensive coverage ranging from installation and management to networking, security, virtualization, and troubleshooting. This book serves as an invaluable resource for IT administrators and professionals aiming to enhance their proficiency with Windows Server 2022. With a practical approach and in-depth explanations, the book offers a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Below are some of the chapters that stood out for me:Chapter 2 highlights how essential it is to have proficiency in installing and managing servers. Thoroughly testing new operating system releases before deployment is common practice in today’s IT landscape, driven by virtualization and the need for 100% uptime. This chapter provides suggestions to streamline the installation process and save time in dealing with these tasks.Chapter 3 talks about Active Directory (AD) and how it has been an integral part of Windows Server for a significant period of time, and its importance remains unchanged in Windows Server 2022. AD has served as the primary authentication system in Microsoft-based environments and will continue to do so for on-premise datacenters in the foreseeable future. Proficiency in AD is crucial for success in server administration, as lacking this knowledge can hinder your career progression. This chapter also touched upon another essential infrastructure technology commonly found alongside Active Directory on domain controller servers—DNS. To effectively manage a Microsoft infrastructure, the author believes there are three server technologies that every administrator must be fluent in: Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.Chapter 5 talks about how Group Policy is an immensely powerful tool that proves invaluable when operating in a domain environment. It offers a plethora of pre-configured settings and configurations, allowing for seamless management of client computers. The ability to manipulate the registry on client machines further expands the possibilities, granting you virtually limitless control over what can be managed through Group Policy Objects (GPOs).Chapter 7 deals with Networking with Windows Server 2022 and how in the past, server administration and network administration were distinct roles in most organizations. However, the lines between these roles have become increasingly blurred over time. Windows Server administrators now need to handle various networking configurations and tasks without necessarily involving a separate networking team. It is crucial to have a solid understanding of your infrastructure’s connectivity. The tools discussed in this chapter will equip you to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft-centric networks effectively. We were also introduced to software-defined networking (SDN).Chapter 9 deals with Hardening and Security. One of the top priorities for many CIOs is security, encompassing the protection of client machines, networks, cloud resources, and, above all, data. Securing your infrastructure is not a one-size-fits-all solution; it requires the integration of various technologies and components that work in harmony to ensure the safety of your resources. The objective of this chapter was to showcase examples of security measures and technologies applicable to any environment. Additionally, it aimed to emphasize the significance of security in today’s IT landscape. Privacy and security concerns must be addressed when implementing any technology solution. It is alarming to see new applications being introduced within organizations without considering their platform’s security. Applications that transmit or store unencrypted data should be either modified or discarded. Safeguarding information is vital for the long-term success of our businesses.Chapter 12 is titled Redundancy in Windows Server 2022. It talks about how redundancy plays a vital role in infrastructure planning and server building. Windows Server 2022 offers powerful built-in capabilities that you can immediately leverage in your own environments. By delving into NLB (Network Load Balancing) and failover clustering, you can enhance your organization’s capabilities and push the boundaries of service uptime. Even for small to medium-sized businesses, Windows Server provides excellent replication options, allowing you to achieve redundant file servers with a limited server set. With features like Storage Replica, you can replace numerous third-party solutions, simplifying the process of setting up redundant file servers.Mastering Windows Server 2022″ is an immensely valuable resource for IT professionals seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge of Microsoft’s latest server operating system. The book’s comprehensive coverage, practical approach, and clear explanations make it a dependable guide for administrators working with Windows Server 2022. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced professional, this book will undoubtedly serve as an indispensable reference on your journey towards mastering Windows Server 2022.

  7. An amazing resource for IT professionals of all aptitude levels
Many technical books and resources are a bit dry and difficult to read. Not so with this book! Jordan Krause has managed to take highly technical, but highly useful information, and make it rather delightful to read and digest. He has a knack for taking technical information and combining it with real-world stories and scenarios that make for a very engaging read. It is very obvious that Mr. Krause is a veteran of IT and knows this material very well. However, not all experts have the ability to convey what they know. Jordan is an exception to this rule and has a gift for conveying this complex info very clearly.Jordan is obviously, still in the trenches every day managing various networks and infrastructures for clients. As he mentions, “It’s getting cloudy out there.” Clients are moving their infrastructure to the cloud more and more by the day. Keeping up with the changes is somewhat difficult. However, there are still many hybrid and on-prem environments that aren’t going anywhere. It is an essential skill to know how to manage the Windows Server operating system. As someone who has worked in IT for over 12 years, I found this book and will continue to find this book, to be an invaluable resource. I wish I had a resource like this from day one of my career. I highly recommend it to any newcomer to IT as well as seasoned professionals who want to stay on top of the material and thrive in the industry. If you manage or even have to “touch” a Windows server, do yourself a favor and add this to your collection!

  8. This book is the most complete book about windows Server I ever read. It has nearly 700 pages covering all chapters that you could be interested in – Active Directory, Networking, Certificates, powershell, clusters, containers, etc. I highly recommend it!
