A MUST-read for Entrepreneurs
This book was enlightening. The author is very straight and too the point on what you need to do in order to build and maintain your personal brand. I would recommend this book as a must-ready for anyone starting a new blog, opening a new store, or creating an online portfolio. This is really the best advice out there on how to promote yourself, business, product, or service. He does not sugar-coats the facts. Hard work is required to launch and maintain your personal bran, but anything that pays off requires that. What I liked most about this book was that it did not just say ‘Work hard and stick with it’, like so many others of the same genre, but it tells you concrete ways of going about those lofty ideas. This book is really about changing your mindset to make your brand work in the digital space. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are operating under the wrong paradigm, then it’s all for not.P.S. – Thank you Nico Smith at UTD…best instructor ever)
Everything you need to know
The fact is “People Google People” and individuals will need to keep pace with technology. Me 2.0 is an easy instructive guide to help you understand the importance of personal branding in todays world. It will teach you how to present yourself online and become more visible.
Concrete, well-written and full of practical steps to build a personal brand
An excellent book that not only reveal the concepts about personal branding, but also show the practical methods to discover, create, communicate and maintain your personal brand. The author shows authority and it is wonderful how this book can transform any reader in a high-impact professional.Do you want to understand the labor work of the XXI century? This is your book. Do you want to understand the “Millenials”? This is your book. Do you want to know how to differentiate from others? This is your bookI love it
And… ????
I’m sorry, but I got zero out of this book. If you are just finding out how to make a Twitter page (“personalize the background!” “Fill out your complete profile!”) or if you are very new to blogs (“RSS feeds!”) — this book will be helpful. But if you’re like me — gen X, have a FB page, have a Twitter account and use them moderately well — this book is not worth your time. I skimmed through it and it’s all snippets of things. How to make a good cover letter! Wow! The art of the interview! Wow! Nothing at all new or revolutionary or important. Get your hands on Seth Godin’s books. Skip this. With due respect to the author… Thank you for your hard work, but the audience, imo, is 45+ years old. Everyone younger already knows everything in the book. I’m sorry.
A 2012 Philosophy For An 80’s Grad
Although I keep current with technology, I was not a believer in social media. After reading Me 2.0, I understand that it is critical to my career. If you’re 35 or older and skeptical at all about social media, read this book. If you are concerned about your career over the long run(and who isn’t), read this book. If you took the time to read my review, read this book. I think you get my point!
GOOD GUIDE TO KNOW
WELL DOCUMENTED WITH FINE EXAMPLES OF THE SUBJECT OF BRANDING. GOOD BOOK TO HAVE AT YOUR SIDE WHEN YOU START ON THE PATH OF BEING KNOWN FOR WHAT YOU REALLY ARE.
self marketing is a full time job
I liked the book and I think for someone who really wants to be noticed through social media it’s a good way to start. I followed some of the tips and especially the Linked in/Twitter tips worked out quite well. Nevertheless I think if you take this serious you have to spend a lot of time on it. Not an hour a day but at least two hours a day to update your Twitter, Facebook, Linked in and Blog so you make a difference in this super fast paced world. I’m not ready to spend this amount of time behind my PC every evening after work so at the end I gave up on it.However, as a employee or job seeker nowadays you really HAVE to know these things! Without this knowledge you’ll encounter a serious disadvantages on job market, and honestly there’s no way around it. You are the product and the better your marketing the better your opportunities. Perceived value is the key it seems … even though I’m sometimes wondering what is going to happen to all these people who simply can’t sell them selves so well …
Not worth the money
I agree with other commenters – this is not worth the money. It’s very basic info that anyone who is a smart professional already knows.
Personal branding isn’t taught in school. You can learn some from experience over your life or just get a big head start by following and learning from the guru – Dan Schawbel.
Nice book! I really enjoy and recommend this book for all the people in all the stages in their professional development.
