Great insider’s guide to Business and Future of Connected Technology
I enjoyed reading this book, Embodying beauty, intellect, and spirit are the qualities of a great human being. Similarly, itâs an ingenious metaphor for achieving success in designing products and delivering exceptional services to customers.
A Staggeringly Insightful Analysis of the Mobile Revolution
Gotta love learning about this rapid change in culture and business from one who pioneered it. The author has you appreciating the power, beauty and utility of mobility as an ideal amplification of our human spirit – deeply personal, connected and immediate.Besides being beautifully written, the book is highly philosophical, forward thinking and engaging from the first page. Iâm skeptical about reading books on technology but this oneâs a must read because itâs also about design, the direction of business in general and the new, personal way in which we interact with the boundless phone technology thatâs in our pockets.
Author’s CV rather than book on mobile revolution
Like a wand a smartphone with its beautiful apps amplifies us humans. Not a word about the mobile network enabling this mobile revolution. The book reads like a high-school essay, or collection of blog posts, sometimes naive, sometimes worse. Did you know that people in India still use SMS and data?)) Did you know that Nokia lost smartphone battle to Apple because they are Finns and it’s cold in their home country so they thought nobody would tap a touchscreen with there bare hand? Bought the book because of unanimous praise. Disappointed.
Thought-provoking and fascinating.
If you are expecting a dry tome of code and programming related material, you’re not going to get it!Instead of a tech-heavy litany of specs, we are treated to a real dissection of what makes us humans so attached to our technology and specifically our mobile technology. The author takes great care to guide us through the reasons we love our mobile devices; the science, yes, but also the art, the psychology, the emotions that the designers of the tech manipulate to “make” us love our devices. With a broad and deep look at the motivations and reasons, she leads us through such topics as impressionism, freudian psychology, how simplicity and elegance makes us like one mobile site versus another and many other avenues of exploration. A truly fascinating deconstruction of what would seem to be a rather simple topic, becomes an extremely complex and interesting look, not just at technology, but at what it means to be human and how that humanity is “mined” to design the latest and greatest mobile apps.I am a long-time techie and holder of many US patents and most of my time is spent on the bits and bytes of technology; it was refreshing to read a book where human motivation, emotion and appreciation for art have supplanted the pure “techie” type manual. Thought provoking and fascinating.
A clear, concise, and simple explanation of the mobile revolution…that you don’t have to be an IT/tech professional to enjoy.
Wonderful book. I am not in the IT/tech industry, but I am curious about the mobil phenomenon. This book helped me understand what is going on, why, and where it is taking us. The information is extremely clearly set out and explained, which makes it perfect for a layperson like me. Further, her advice can be applied to all areas, not just mobile. But the brilliance of Moatti is to have added a layer of cultural and historical context so that the reader understands how the mobile revolution is impacting history itself and not just the gadget in our hands. Highly recommended!!
A book full of wisdom and practical perspectives on going mobile!
A very well written book by SC Moati; a documentary on state of businesses going mobile; what works, what does not. I find the book to be insightful, inspiring, clarity creating, and strategic. There are many blogs and books on this topic that go to tactical and operational.Mobilized provides a strategic analysis of what being mobile is all about, highlighting lessons learned products/services/apps that we all use.I highly recommend this book. You’ll enjoy reading, and benefit from it.Thank you SC!
90% fluff , 10 % content.
TLDR:Apps should look and feel beautiful.Apps should add value to people who use it.The author also wants you to know she has worked in leading apps. It must be true, she repeats it many times.Over all this book should not have had more than 30 pages.
Engaging, insightful and useful!
This book is a must-read for anyone interested in learning about “mobile-first” – SC Moatti is a pioneer in this area, with a unique perspective honed over years of trial and error. Not only is mobilized insightful and relevant, it is fun and quick to read – you almost feel like you are having a conversation with an interesting and engaging friend. Definitely one of my top-10 recommended books for product managers, marketing managers and business managers who are at all interesting in the mobile space.
Great book on how any companies big and small should embrace mobile, and how to do it right!
What I learned from the book could have been summarised in a blog post. If you don’t know a lot about mobile tech, this book is interesting. If you’re in the industry, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it.
