Especially good coverage on instruction flow and branch prediction
As with most Computer Architecture books, this book covers a wide range of topics in superscalar out-of-order processor design. But what made this book stand out is a chapter dedicated to discussing advanced instruction flow techniques. The book had a very thorough review of many branch prediction algorithm, various types of target predictors as well as high bandwidth fetching mechanism. The book also has a very thorough coverage on the P6 micro-architecture.
This book is nicely describe superscalar architectures
This book is nicely describe superscalar architectures. With David Patterson’s book, this is nice textbook for studying broad review of computer architectures
Computer Microarchitecture Book of Highest Standard
This is the successor to Paul Kogge’s book about CPU Pipeline design. Truly a microarchitecture textbook of the highest standard.
Good value for a somewhat dated version of the book; sets off library alarms
This was a nice book for the price as an overall intro to processor design. Though I’d like to get the latest edition, it is prohibitively expensive for my needs, so this one gave me a nice foundation. The book apparently was retired/recycled as a former library book, as it still retains magnetism which sets off common alarm systems when leaving/entering libraries. I always have to let the guards in university/public libraries know of the issue before setting off alarms. Folks who acquire used books from libraries need to be sure to demagnetize books before selling them on the market.
not quite “very good” condition
I don’t think it’s VG condition if there are significant markups in the first section and defacement of the authors picture. I have doubts about the resale value of this book when my class has completed. Good, otherwise.

Great Book!
This book provides comprehensive knowledge in a simplified manner. The complex concepts are explained in a clear and concise manner.

good book
It is a really good book to understand the modern processor design. I strongly recommend that to any computer engineering students.
Five Stars
I recommend it to all fresh grad engineers.
