Great, valuable, quick to digest book
This book is great, valuable, quick to digest book. It presents the concepts of Scrum and Azure DevOps well. I am sure I will refer back to sections in it numerous times until Azure DevOps evolves to the point where this book becomes dated.
This book was recommended by scrum.org for the professional scrum developer certification (PSD I). The book is realtively small due to its thin pages but the quality of the book is good. It starts with the basics of the scrum and even though I already have multiple scrum.org certifications, the start of the book provided valuable practical details that helped me learn more. The book is an easy read but due to the smaller font size, it will take more time than I expected to finish. The only drawback is that the book doesn’t seem to be updated for the latest version of scrum guide.
This book covers both areas in a meaningful and understandable way. Even those new to one or the other will find enough information to get started.Together with author’s experiences and the checklists at the end of evry topic make this book valuable and good as a proper reference work when planning and creating new, Scrum based projects, as well as guide for daily work.
Professional Scrum Development with Azure DevOps is fantastic book. I cannot rate this book highly enough!This book covers the Scrum framework, aligned to the 2021 Scrum guide. This book covers practising Professional Scrum with expert guidance and scenario based examples. It also covers in-depth setup within Azure DevOps and boards with great detail, reasoning and screenshots as to how to setup your tool for optimising professional scrum.Whilst I’ve used JIRA/Confluence extensively, and slowly learning about Azure DevOps, the book itself is fantastic for learning about Professional Scrum and applying the framework correctly.I would recommend this book to anyone using Scrum, regardless of their use of Azure DevOps.The anti-patterns often observed with Scrum are added into this book as ‘Smells’ which really draw out Richard’s experience in using Scrum, why it’s a concern to a team to have a smell and what you can do to resolve it to really foster a collaborative environment for the application of Professional Scrum.The book goes into detail in areas such as flow, continuous improvement and scaling scrum. All invaluable for improving the application of Scrum for anyone using the framework.I would recommend this book to anyone, anywhere on their Scrum journey.
