  1. good coverage of quickbooks desktop. This is about the only book covering Desktop.
There is so little easily retrievable information to explain everything about Quickbooks Desktop. Quickbooks themselves really dropped the ball in providing information on how to use the program. Dummy’s has a very good reference for us. It doesn’t cover everything, but it is a great reference. For additional help, do a lot of Google searches.

  2. Just okay
As a total beginner in QB…I was very disappointed. Basic rules somewhat addressed; however NOT a good book for troubleshooting basic issues.

  3. It is HUGE but contains anything you ever wanted to know about QB
As mentioned it is huge, but has everything you need to know. It eve has a very good section on EXCEL.

  4. I’ll buy a different book if I need to learn accounting.
I wanted a book that would take me through the features of Quickbooks. This book is filled with accounting procedures and is actually light on Quickbooks procedures. This book looks as if the author wanted to be paid by the number of pages, not the usefulness of the information contained within it. Many of the “screen shots” are so light that they are unreadable. I am very disappointed with this. Usually, the “For Dummies” are really quite good. This one fell far short of what I expected.

  5. Disappointed
I was hoping it would be more of the procedures how to perform tasks. There was more of setting up the company and accounting tips. I am new to the program, which doesn’t come with a manual or how to …I was looking for more steps to do each process

  6. Quickbooks 2023
This Book just tells you how to do things in QB. It does not offer solutions to fix whenQB is not set up correctly or for example QB On line version has problems with their payroll entriesdownloaded into accounts. Been waiting over 2 months for answers so I bought this book which did notaddress my issue at all.

  7. Missing whole sections of Book 7 and Book 8
Just scanning the book and it’s pages, I find that Book 7 chapter 3 and the majority of Book 8 are completely missing.Would really like to know how I can get those and if anyone else had the same issue.

  8. Pretty Disappointing
I’m new to QuickBooks and have been asked to set up a bookkeeping system for a new business. I’m not a bookkeeper but I’m good with numbers and I took a few accounting and business courses in undergrad. This book helps with a lot of basic, overall tasks. Which happen to be the same ones that the QuickBook online help system can help me with. The things that I really need help with seem to me to be pretty basic but the answers to these basic questions have become some kind of secret mystery. This book does a good job of explaining why a double entry bookkeeping system is the only way to go. For example, in the chapter on Bookkeeping Chores, it says that “QuickBooks not only makes invoicing and related tasks easier, but also collects invoice information, recording this information in the invoice data file. Happily, this means that you get the extra benefit of recording accounting transactions simply by using QuickBooks for invoicing.”Great! But wait! WHICH ACCOUNTING TRANSACTIONS DOES IT RECORD??????? It appears that QuickBooks does SOME aspects of double entry bookkeeping but not others!!! How do I know which ones it’s doing??? Why can’t it say, “When you create an invoice in QuickBooks, the system also makes an entry in Accounts Receivable . .. . .(and whatever the Hell else it’s doing)????I ran into an almost insurmountable problem because the business I’m setting up has a web site that automatically deposits credit card proceeds into our bank account. I know I need to go into QuickBooks and categorize the transaction, but WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES??? It’s not in this book. I can’t do an invoice, as I’ve already been paid. I tried to just do receipts, but then it assumed I was putting the money into the bank again.WHY CAN’T THIS BOOK TELL ME WHAT OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE AFFECTED BY WHAT I’M ENTERING??? It’s all I want to know!!! (And QuickBooks help is NO HELP AT ALL!!! One “expert” agreed when I said the only solution I can see is to disconnect my bank account from QuickBooks and just enter those transactions manually. She said, “Yeah, that’s one way you could handle that.” The next day I was on a live chat for FOUR HOURS trying to straighten out the mess. This “expert outright told me I’d been given incorrect information and apologized, but I finally ended up disconnecting the chat because THAT “expert” didn’t seem very expert either. I ended up just closing the account and opening a new one under a different name.I’ve been reduced to using a system where, before I do anything new, I run reports, do the new task, then run reports again to see what changed on the reports. It’s idiotic. I cannot believe a book like this wouldn’t include this basic information. If anyone has some magic system that actually teaches one how to use QuickBooks, I haven’t found it yet. This book certainly isn’t it. It’s the first “Dummies” book that I didn’t find helpful.
