One of my favorite podcasters, entrepreneur and professor Scott Galloway regularly says about Artificial Intelligence (AI):”You’re not going to lose your job to AI, you’re going to lose your job to someone who knows how to use AI.”In my nearly 40 years in professional sales, this is the third time Iâve heard predictions that technology is going to take over my profession(Neil Rackman I’m still waiting for those 8M sales jobs to be eliminated that you forecasted in 2010) including:1997 – The Internet2010 – Social Selling2024 – AII was skeptical then, and I remain skeptical now.So when two of my favorite sales authors, Jeb Blount and Anthony Iannarino announced that they were writing a book on AI in sales, I knew that not only was some truth going to be dropped but also that they were going to show the world of professional selling how to take this tech and EMPOWER sales professionals not eliminate them.What I love about this book is that it dispels the number one lie that is being spread in the sales tech industry: “This amazing new AI-based (product name) will eliminate the time and hassle of prospecting!!!!” Just like social selling was going to eliminate prospecting… and email… and video…. and……..Jeb and Anthony make it very clear, that AI when used well will enhance your prospecting, research, discovery, and closing NOT REPLACE IT. Think about it, if a $19.95 per month ChatGPT account could do the job, why is your company going to pay you???????The most useful aspect of this book is the examples of prompts that you can use in any large language model to help make your job more effective. From prompts to help with research, to prompts that help generate questions. From prompts to help compare competitors to prompts to give you feedback on your writing, this book arms you to become a power user of these new tools.So let’s all agree, that if you are a TRUE sales professional, these new tools will not replace you. But if you are a TRUE sales professional, these new tools will make you more effective, more trusted, and even more successful.
Great resource for sales people who want to capitalize on AI technology
I am not an AI expert. I would not be able to evaluate whether this book is or is not deeply technical on the subject of AI. However, this book is not written for experts in AI, or LLM theory.This book is written for sales professionals who want to leverage AI to enhance, or even transform their sales process. It accomplishes that extremely well.There is ample background material on the AI basics and basics on how the LLMs generally “think”. Using that background material, Blount and Iannarino do an EXCELLENT job of presenting and describing use cases for each stage of the sales process that can, in fact, enhance, or even transform your sales process.MUST READ for any sales professional.

With all the buzz about AI being used in sales, Jeb and Anthony have provided a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand roadmap to help increase sales by using these tools. It’s appropriate and helpful to both tenured and new salespeople alike. As a former sales manager, I would make this a go-to for an upcoming team book club and get it into their hands as soon as possible. A key focus of the book is that we should never forget or discount the impact of human connection, even when taking advantage of these modern tools. It has helped me better understand AI’s influence and impact on my sales role and results.
AI Instruction manual for salespeople
As a salesperson I’m obligated to show up to clients and prospects well informed about them and the key issues they are facing. Long gone of the days of showing up to a meeting with questions designed to uncover a prospect’s pain points. A modern sales process requires us to show up already knowing what challenges the client/prospect is facing, and be armed with key insights about what will solve those challenges. This book provides great insight into how AI can be leveraged to do just that. I suspect this book will be continuously updated with new versions as the capabilities of AI rapidly develop. Definitely worth reading this one.

Good AI content….once you get to it.
The first part of the book is mainly fodder from Jeb’s previous books. Once you skip to about Chapter 18 it has great info for prompts and ai prospecting.

Excellent book. It showed me how AI can be used to support the salesperson, not replace them. I immediately put Jeb and Anthony’s advice to practical use in my day to day sales role, and it’s changed my view of the role technology plays in the sales industry. Highly recommended.
