Being such a HUGE fan of the Mass Effect franchise for well over the last 12 years, this art book just re-establishes my love for the trilogy and the amount of hours and emotions I have invested in that series. This art book is just full of beautiful art work of the characters, environment, and an in depth view of the stories of the game. You just can’t help by be in awe of the creation process of this amazing franchise. This art book is truly a must for any Mass Effect fan!
An Inspiring Concept Book to Match its Inspiring Trilogy
I absolutely adore the Mass Effect trilogy. I’d say that one of the highlights of the series is its design. The characters, settings, and overall aesthetic are absolutely amazing and so extremely impressive. The book’s contents themselves are like Keanu Reeves- breathtaking. I love looking through the earlier character concepts and seeing what the artists’ thought processes were and learning fun, obscure details along the way. I would most definitely recommend this book to my friends if I had any. But, you don’t need friends when you have Mass Effect.
If you are a fan of Mass Effect, this is the best thing ever
I love the Mass Effect series. The art is fantastic, and the little notes about the concepts are really cool. Definitely a good source for what the different races were going to look like, and it’s cool how much time and effort they spent keeping things consistent throughout all the games.

Was a bit worried about scratches and corners looking at the simple packaging but the book arrived perfect. It’s an art book with sketches of the characters. Love it! I’m surprised though that there is no lore book for ME, considering how much content there would be for it.

This is a big book! The pages have a nice glossy finish and have that wonderful new book smell. They dive a bit into the creation part of the series with a few rough character sketches but I feel like most of the environmental work over shadows the character pages. A lot of the character art looks like rough thumbnail images rather than finished pieces.Great book if you just want to gloss over some of the ideas behind Mass Effect. If you are looking for a deep dive into any one subject you are out of luck. This book is almost all pictures with very little narratives to describe the process and or logic behind decisions. There is some amazing art and design in this series, I could see this being expanded into a text book for Game Art & Design students with some work on the narrative part of the book.
Just Get It!
The Mass Effect Artbook is amazing. I couldn’t get it when it first came out a few years ago and this addition is a great opportunity to get it with a few extra contents. My only problem with the book was the shipping, the first time, it came really messed up: the spine was torn and the edges were bent, the cover had a few scratches and some pages sort of pushed inside the book. Had to get a replacement and that one came in perfect condition, thanks!
I don’t own a lot of these types of books so it is hard for me to compare. But I wished they had an index page so I can quickly find a certain topic or section. Where is the big stupid jelly fish? Maybe this is a nitpick. I love the trilogy – played the original and the legendary remaster – so I am biased and giving it 5 stars! A nice thing is that the book comes in shrink wrap.

How the world was built and the races were created are all told in nuggets and like every art of books it has artworks, loaded to the brim.
