1. Great AI Start
   “The Essential Beginner’s Guide to AI” aptly describes Samuel Thorpe’s well-written, thorough introduction to the world of AI. He opens his book with the basics of AI terminology before continuing with a survey of how AI is already seamlessly integrated into the modern world. At no point is Thorpe’s work redundant; he writes cleanly and clearly and takes the reader along on a delightful ride through the AI universe. I especially like the introductory AI projects Thorpe provides such as chatbots, voice controlled devices, and home automation devices. Fun and interesting though AI is, Thorpe is careful to thoughtfully consider the implications of AI from the ethical perspectives of privacy, job displacement and productivity. Thorpe’s narrative is also peppered with brief, occasional self-quizzes to help the reader evaluate his grasp of the material. But at no point does this book feel “heavy”. Rather, it feels like a fascinating, delightful survey of the AI landscape. Thorpe also guides the reader seeking employability in AI fields with information on the skills, trend awareness, and networking needed for success in the workplace. The book concluded with a look at the challenges faced by the AI field in its march to the future as well as the cultural and social implications of that future. AI is here to stay, and this book is a must read for anyone wanting to stay culturally literate. Great job!

2. Don’t need to be a programmer to understand this book. Well Balanced
   AI seems to be all over the news these days. I’m now seeing commercials on TV for it. I wanted to learn more about it than just the hype. This book’s description said that it was easy to understand. That is true. You don’t have to be a computer programmer to comprehend what’s laid down.I have to give 100% credit to the author for presenting a balanced view. He did explain how to use it, how it could help. But he also had a whole chapter on ethical considerations. Situations where these techniques could possibly go wrong. I live in a small town, but if you live in a large one, you might be questioning if your area’s surveillance cameras are recording your face and activities. What conclusions and flags may be assigned to you by the AI regarding your activities? Did you give permission for this? Maybe you are okay with the drawbacks in exchange for reduced crime. I’m still very much on the fence at this point, but I appreciated that this book was balanced and factual in explaining how it worked, what applications it could be used for good, but also wary about it being used incorrectly. The blame there might be on the people utilizing it and not the technology itself. I am glad I took the time to read this book.

   This book was a joy to read. The author provided many examples of artificial intelligence uses in easy to understand language. It was not littered with technical jargon, and it was written in a way that kept the reader interested. This book is the perfect tool for discovering the many uses of artificial intelligence or for the student who wishes to know more to keep up with the changes in today’s world of AI.

7. A good base to start from
   I’ve used some AI but still consider myself a newbie – I thought this book simplifies something that’s thought to be complex or daunting into something that we can easily embrace. The author explains AI in a clear and straightforward manner – and this book is perfect anyone who who’s a total beginner or wants to learn more about AI, how it’s intertwined in our daily lives or even understanding the concept of complex AI algorithm that is explained in a way that it’s easily understandable.

8. Lots of Knowledge
   I have been using AI for about a year. This book covers so many topics that I was unfamiliar with. It does an excellent job explaining the differences between AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. After that the author describes and explains the many applications that AI can be used for. There are quite a lot. I found this book to be not only educational but a very interesting read as well.
