  1. A vision of the future internet
Over the last two years since the Metaverse exploded, many people have attempted to define what the Metaverse means for their own ends. Crypto stans have defined it vis a vis crypto, and Mark Zuckerberg has defined it via his vision for a piece of hardware that would reduce his dependency on rivals Apple and Google.Ball has stood apart, defining a vision of the Metaverse as a future version of the 3D internet, not beholden to self-interest beyond wanting to share his vision. In this book he expands, updates and changes many of the topics he wrote about in his prior edition, making it a much better, more robust book than before.Strongly recommended for anyone who wants to understand where technology will inevitably go.

  2. Important, measured and comprehensive
I have rarely learned as much about my own field as in this book (even as a reader of the first edition). I think am more optimistic about web3 than Matthew Ball but I also recognize why it is helpful to readers that he does not (usually) tip his hat to certain solutions and I found his detail on the problems we have to solve very helpful.

  3. The most comprehensive overview of the next generation of the internet one can imagine.
Matthew Ball takes complex topics, breaks them down into digestible morsels, and puts them back together in ways you can understand, you will remember, and that compel you. This is true of his persuasive essays as well as this latest edition of The Metaverse. He’s created the definitive text to understand where technology (and culture) are going.

  4. Deeply thoughtful analysis
Matthew is a top thinker and writer on the metaverse, and he continues to educate me on the metaverse, and what it takes to turn the Internet into a metaverse. His detailed writing combines both technical and theoretical information, which will certainly help you get much more informed on the space.

  5. I read the first edition of this book twice. Once when it came out and again last year. And so while I was likely to like this new edition, I wasn’t sure if it made sense to read again. “The Metaverse, Building the Spatial Internet” is a veritably elevated revamp. It grows from the passage of time in technology, and obvious growth in Matt Ball as a writer and expert. I started the read by picking the chapters that were newest such as crypto and AI, but found myself reading the entire book. I don’t know the best analogy, but this really is both an update to the old book and a whole new one. The strongest of recommendations.
