Not the normal Ric Edelman book for sure.
Not the Ric Edelman book you are use to. This book is different in direction and scope. I found it to be a little difficult at first to get a grasp on.It deals with the future of your retirement and money. It is also a thought process of a new direction you may want to think about. In fact you will have to think about it if even a quarter of the stuff he is talking about happens as soon as he thinks it will.Though I disagree with some of the premises in the book about how fast this exponential technology is going in some fields, I will not bet against it.To me its much to much risk to ignore.Actually the grasp of this book still follows the plan of looking at the big picture for the long term but being aware of these exponential technologies of the future that could affect your retirement, and might I add your in-retirement planning.I do listen to his radio show and have read some of his books. I do not receive investment service from his firm(s), as I do it myself. His advise is sound, practical, and takes in the long term approach. I was going to give this book only 3 stars, as it was not what I expected. But on further thought, this book adds an entirely new angle to retirement planning. Something I have never really read about before in the concept of planning. In fact his concept of an EFT for exponential technologies (XT) was monumental, both in concept and structure.A good read for sure.
like bit coin
Wow! What a book! If youâre feeling nervous about the future and how it is changing already, this book may help put you at ease. Ric Edelman is a financial advisor, weâll known throughout the country. In this book, he makes the future look exciting, full of advancements in all fields, from medicine to transportation, to education, to investment and beyond. He explains many things I did not understand, like bit coin, and AI, which seems to threaten or be dismissed by many. Well, itâs here and itâs happening and it will continue whether weâre on board or not, Ric uses laymenâs language and terms to discuss our âbrave new worldâ. It is not complex reading, but it does make sense of what few understand and fear. One of the chapters that I felt was very hopeful, lists jobs that are and will be going away BUT ALSO, lists jobs that will be staying and new jobs that will be coming. He, of course, gives investment advice, which is useful. This book, may, if youâre like me, bring you up to speed, cheer you, invite you into the exciting future, and give you good advice for how to stay afloat and relevant. Do it! Jump in! Weâre on a ride into a vet new experience, and thatâs ok!
Good book about the future that we’ll face.
This is a book on how technology will affect our lives (health, jobs, everyday activities etc.). Ric has made it easy to read and understand giving good examples on how the future will be. I recommend this book to everyone that is curious to know what will the future be like. It’s a book that worth your time and money!
I can’t think of anyone who shouldn’t read this book.
This book is well researched, the writing is clear and concise, the chapters tend to be short and the subject matter is inspiring, scary and important. Most of us don’t notice it in our day to day lives but “exponential technologies” are changing the world around us at an unbelievable rate. In 5, 10 and 20 years much of what we take for granted and consider normal, including our health, will change dramatically or perhaps no longer exist. One small example we can all relate to is cars and trucks. They will drive themselves! That’s both amazing and scary. It’s amazing because the vast majority of accidents are caused by human error. By removing the human the accident rate approaches zero, insurance costs tumble, lives are spared and we’ll need dramatically fewer cars, trucks and parking garages. That’s scary because many of us earn our living with our car and in 29 states Truck Driver is the #1 occupation. What will all those people do to support themselves and their families? Ric explains and explores dozens of exponential technologies as well as their economic, personal finance and social impact. This is a book about the future first and about financial planning second. I highly recommend The Truth About Your Future to everyone.
Fundamentally sound re: exponential technology, but tends to cherry pick examples and gloss over the realities in order to support the argument.Solid basic financial advice, but it comes with subtle and repeated promotion of his own financial advising firm.People for whom the coming change in longevity and exponential technologies is a new idea should find interesting insight in this book. For those already following these changes, there seems to be little new here.Overall a light and thought provoking read. Recommend.
Great book.
Lots to think about. If half of the predictions come true we will be living a radically different life and will need to heed Ric’s advice.
One of the first book read so far and was fascinated by the contents and authors vision about the future. Surely recommend to anyone loking to start reading.
