    I bought this book because I’m a regular blogger and wanted to learn how to provide value and make connections with readers.This book is really a comprehensive guide to writing advertising copy that sells. The information given is specific enough to give you a structure when writing, yet general enough that you can apply it your own situation. I’ve applied what I’ve learned to the content I create at work and my response rate has dramatically increased.If you aspire to get into web advertising, this is a great place to start. If you merely want to ensure that your writing gives the reader more value, get this book. If you’re in business and you want your marketing efforts to bring greater results, buy this book. You wont regret it!

  2. Excellent Resource!
    If you are looking for help with writing copy for the Internet, then this book will help. I have read several resources from Robert Bly (who is more of a regular print kind of guy). However, I believe that Maria has really mastered the art of copywriting online. Whether you need help writing long copy for a sales page or shorter copy for ads, online banner text, etc., it’s in here.My only real con was that Maria did not spend enough time talking about how to write product/service descriptions for an online store. She states that you want to make sure that your online store does not come across like a brochure or one big advertisement. However, I still give this resource 5 stars because Maria does make up for this when she discusses how to make the most of your email marketing, creating videos, infographics, engaging your audience, and anything else that will help yield results.I have only read half the book so far, but I can fully assure you that you will find a goldmine of info in here.

    Running a digital agency is tough – especially when it covers the myriad of traditional marketing and advertising, and technology. One of the areas that are hardest to hire for and most difficult to evaluate is the copywriters. This book covers a fair bit of that somewhat lost art – and does it in a way that focuses on digital presentation. While the techniques and certainly the screenshots in the book are getting dated, the principles are solid and well-articulated. Covering elements such as SEO, monetization of newsletters and e-zines, and basic hooks and scarcity principles is a good read for basic knowledge.

  7. Principles are just excellent! However
    Principles are just excellent! However, the majority of the hyperlinks don’t work anymore. Having read Ogilvy’s book whom Maria refers to often helps in getting my head around the typical products that are used as examples. Or maybe I have also became immune against this type of advertising which in fact lowers my sense of trust in many products that is advertised this way. What I did enjoy about Ogilvy’s book is his examples of nice products, and just maybe this is what appeals to me as person.Still, the knowledge Maria shares is excellent, It is also a great book to use as reference and Maria does succeed in conveying this approach of web copy that will without a doubt change the way you will write on your website forever.The lower rating is ascribed to all the broken hyperlinks and the products typically used. Although I know it works, I am by now steering away from any headlines that makes promises which just ‘sounds to good to be true’. I have became immune and resistant towards that. If I read headlines such as “How a Simple Formula Has Been Scientifically Proven to Cure Cancer and Virtually All Diseases”, I don’t believe it for one second and I simply click away. Granted – if this work for the majority of readers and is tested as being powerful, it does need to be given credit. For this reason I will nonetheless recommend this book to many others.

  8. First Paragraph and Google’s Search Engine
    Many books are written for the conceptual guide. Maria Veloso’s book is written for the practical guide. I appreciated so much the usefulness of this book,”Web Copy That Sells”.In my case, I suspended selling Product A, then, started selling Product B and completed to rewrite my website according to he Maria’s suggestions for product B.I noticed that after publishing, the description sentences underneath my website (type in my domain name then click search)is absolutely wrong. I have learned that the first two sentences in the first paragraph should be written for Google’s Search Engine (Should avoid introduction.). Since I am new to making website so that is that only my problem?.Morrie, CA
