1. Inspiring, interesting, important stories from the women who shaped gaming!
   I LOVED this book! I have been searching for more information about women in gaming and this book was PERFECT for my research! Every chapter is an essay by a different woman who has contributed to this industry, whether they were a pioneer in the early days or came up through blogging or worked as community managers. Some focus on their own struggles, while some place it in a larger context. Some get into the nitty-gritty of coding while others give an overview. There are chapters from the editor in between that give amazing summaries of the gaming industry, what women are up against and why, and guidance for women who are trying to enter that facet of the gaming industry. Highly recommended for those who want to learn more about the women who create games and how they can help ensure equality moving forward!

2. It’s a great collection and this book is for sure worth picking …
   This book was an intensive read, as someone who works in development. I think it’s a must for everyone in games to read. Some of the essays were extremely relatable to me, while others were a little different than my own experiences but still very insightful. Overall, there is no one story about being a women in game development. The book doesn’t try to argue anything, but is rather a collection of lived experiences and facts. It’s a great collection and this book is for sure worth picking up. I might even pick up extra copies for my friends. Please, if you are thinking about buying this… buy it.

3. Everyone Who Works In Games Should Read this Book
   It is wonderful to have a catalogue of such fantastic, well-written essays on the subject of women in games from women who have been a part of the industry for years. While some of it is heart-breaking to read, most is a thoughtful reflection on why the industry is worth being a part of even despite the struggles. This is a great read if you are looking to understand the very specific situations women can encounter while working in the field and how games can become a more inclusive industry.

   I’m sure this is a great book. I’d love to read it. The only reason I can imagine for the absurdly inflated price is that some school somewhere is using it as a textbook and it is a required purchase.

7. A great read for female gamers
   This is such an empowering read for women in the gaming industry and those aspiring to it! Jennifer Brandes Hepler really delves into all the different areas of gaming–I never knew there was so much going on behind the scenes. A great read for female gamers 🙂
